Marjorie Ann Purvis

Marjorie Purvis PURVIS, Marjorie Ann Marjorie passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the age of 93 years. Marjorie was born 16 November, 1921 to Harold Purvis and Emma Herren in Indianapolis, Indiana. Marjorie was predeceased by her cousin, Pat Wilson, wife of Bruce and mother of Grant, Mark and Anne. Marjorie was a close lifetime companion of Evelyn McCorkell.

Marjorie spent a lifetime working in the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Ottawa. She was a talented mezzo soprano, first recognized in 1945 when she won top honours at the Ottawa Music Festival. Marjorie has been involved as a volunteer in many Ottawa organizations including the Arthritis Society, the National Gallery of Canada, the Ottawa Music Festival, the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, the Harmelodic Club, the Canadian Celiac Association, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Dominion Chalmers United Church.

A Memorial Service for Marjorie will be held in the chapel of Dominion Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper Street, Ottawa, at 11:30 a.m. Friday, the 27th day of February 2015. A reception will follow in the Church Hall.
